SWAN LAKE: Tuesday, 25th April at 20h at the Centre de Congressos, Andorra la Vella (38€) Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake danced by the MOSCOW BALLET starring CRISTINA TERENTIEV & ALEXEI TERENTIEV and the company’s Corps de Ballet. The Story: Prince Siegfriend goes on a hunting trip. He comes across a swan. Before he can shoot, the swan turns into a beautiful woman named Odette. She is under a spell by the evil sorcerer, Von Rothbart, and can only be saved by a virgin prince who swears eternal fidelity to her. Siegfriend falls madly in love, invites her to a ball at his castle where he will marry her. Tragically, the evil sorcerer disguises his own daughter as Odette, causing Siegfriend to propose to the wrong woman. He races back to the lake to confess his mistake, but Odette has chosen to die in the lake to reverse the spell forever. He chooses to join her in eternity, and they live on in the afterlife as lovers forever.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DANCE: Dancing in the Street Saturday, 29th April:
12H in the Plaça de la Germandat, Sant Julià de Lòria. (Free) Workshop on Contact and Communication aimed at all those who want to be initiated into contemporary dance and movement.

12H at the Plaça de la Rotonda, Andorra la Vella. (Free) An open air exhibition ranging from the classic Swan Lake waltz, to a tango by Piazzola, and a Bolero by Ravel performed by students from the Schools of Dance of Andorra la Vella & Escaldes-Egordany. Plus an exhibition of choreography and barre work. It will be followed at 12.30 by a free class of classical barre exercises open to all. (Warning: The performance at 12h at the Rotonda is in but not on the posters…. I’ve incorporated both here…)

17H in the Plaça Coprínceps, Escaldes-Engordany. (Free) A dance demonstration by groups from the Escola de Liquid Dansa. Followed at 17.15 by a Workshop in Rock’n Roll aimed at dance lovers who want to have a good time dancing to the rhythms of Elvis, Bill Haley and Jerry Lee Lewis.

6TH EDITION DANCE FESTIVAL OF IBERIAN FOLKLORE: Sunday, 30th April from 15H at the Sports Complex, Encamp. 15H Parade around town. 16H Festival begins. Some 150 dancers representing the traditional cultures of Spain, Portugal and the Principality of Andorra will include the four formations: the GRUP DE FOLKLORE ‘CASA DE PORTUGAL’, organizers of the gathering; The ESBART SANTA ANNA of Escaldes-Engordany; The AGRUPACIÓ AIRES D’ANDRATX from Mallorca and the GRUP ETNOGRAFICO DE VILA PRAIA D’ÂNCORA who have travelled all the way from Portugal. Once the festival is over there will be an end of festival dance with the GRUP EUPHÒRIA.

A SUPPER USING OLD RECIPES. Saturday, 29th April at 21h at the restaurant La Font Blanca, La Cortinada. (25€ Booking essential 802 288 or [email protected] ) The National Archive of Andorra and el Rebost del Padrí are offering a supper inspired by old recipes found in the Archives.
