At the moment the primary agricultural sector is navigating a period of profound change and adaptation, in which old and new ways of living for mountain herdsmen coexists. As a result of a collaboration between the Department of Agriculture and the Archive of Ethnography (National Archive, Department of Cultural Heritage), the project “Livestock raising” began in 2012, which portrays diversity of ways to work and to understand the activity, giving voice to the older farmers and looking at the youngest. The work of ethnographic documentation wanted to place
special emphasis on the safeguarding of cultural expressions related to the activities that are disappearing or are being transformed.
