ON-CARRER is an ONCA (Orquestra Nacional Clàssica d’Andorra) summer cycle in spaces and corners of all the parishes, which will begin on 13th July in Sant Julià de Lòria, and end on 26th August in Ordino. Each formation will perform three sets of 20 to 25 minutes. The cycle will have a “casual” look to avoid audience concentration and encourage the “surprise” of finding music on the streets.

Wednesday, 15th July at 18h Through the streets of the parish, Sant Julià de Lòria. (Free) Love It at the ON-CARRER Jazz manouche and swing.

Wednesday, 15th July at 21h at Cal Pal, Ordino. (Free. Information and prior reservation required by phone (+376) 878 173.) Summer Nights 2020: Duo Mozart. The Mozart Duo, proposed by the ONCA, with Francesc Planella on violin and Elias Porter on viola. The duo in C major is the first of a collection of six duets that the Prince and Archbishop of Salzburg Jeroni de Colloredo-Mansfeld commissioned from Joseph Haydn in 1783. The composer began work on the commission but, due to an illness, was only able to complete four of the duos. The archbishop was not a patient man and, although he knew of the composer’s poor health, he threatened not to pay him his salary until he had completed the work. In the summer of 1783, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart learned of Joseph Haydn’s predicament. He had also previously worked for the archbishop, but due to the bad relationship between them, he had resigned his job. Still, he decided to help Haydn and wrote the two missing duos to complete the assignment (the duo in G major and the duo in E flat major). The result was impeccable and the archbishop did not realize that the works were not by Haydn. The duos were published in 1788 under the name of that composer, but some time later, Mozart, who valued the works very much, asked him to return the compositions to him.

A route that begins in the Church of St. Julià and St. Germà to discover the mosaics of liturgical art, full of light and colour, made by the Jesuit priest, theologian, writer and artist of religious art, the Slovenian Marko Ivan Rupnik, called the “Michael Angelo” of the 21st century with murals in many countries including in the chapel Redemptoris Mater in the Vatican. I could not believe my eyes when I saw this extraordinary transformation of the church and to find it here in Andorra. Definitely worth a visit. The outing continues with the Church of Sant Serni de Nagol because it is, without a doubt, one of the most exceptional Romanesque churches you can see in all the Pyrenees. The perfection of its natural environment, and its peculiar location above the village, offer an incredible spectacle of serene beauty to all those who come here. And the route ends at the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Canólich, patron saint of Sant Julià de Lòria, which is located in a natural environment of great beauty, surrounded by the forest of Canòlich and spectacular views, allows us to live up close the ‘spirituality’ of this unique space, which seeks to enhance generosity and the ability to share among all those who approach it. I assume there will be a bus laid on.
