Patrons of the ONCA Foundation resume the socio-educational program «Music and creativity» started in 2015

The Government of Andorra and the Crèdit Andorrà Foundation, patrons of the ONCA Foundation, resume the socio-educational program «Music and creativity» started in 2015 and expand their fields of action and, as a consequence, the participating groups. The program wants to use music as a social inclusion tool that allows us to explore new horizons.

As of the month of November, the sessions with the Basket Beat methodology, the youth of the Service for attention to the teens at risk (SAR), of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Justice and Interior of the Government of Andorra (Pyrenees), return to the sessions.

At the same time, a new Basket Beat begins for second-year high school students of the Andorran School who have to develop a participation, performance and service project (PAS), which is indispensable for obtaining a bachelor’s degree.

The sessions will begin on November 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the facilities of the Primary Care Center of the Commune of Escaldes-Engordany, and will be held weekly. They will be given by the team of Basket Beat, led by Josep Maria Aragay, and will be addressed to the youth of the Service for the Care of Adolescents at Risk, and there will another seven students from the second year of the Andorrana Batxillerat School, who must carry out a project of participation, performance or service. The work will end on March 27, 2019, with a final sample for relatives, friends and people linked to the social and educational field.

According to Aragay, «Basket Beat, in this case with young people and adults, has the aim of helping to develop people by means of musical creation in a group and with basketball balls. The objectives linked to this methodology are to facilitate the voice, critical thinking and the encounter between young people and groups with fewer opportunities to build more participatory and empowered communities».

Basket Beat was born during the spring of 2009 as a project that uses the basketball, body and games to facilitate access to artistic experiences, with a critical look at social transformation. The objectives linked to this methodology are to facilitate the access of the participating groups to quality group artistic experiences, promote skills training for life, develop actions that build more participatory and empowered communities and promote the word of young people and between young people.

The program «Music and creativity» and its Basket Beat project has the collaboration of Escaldes-Engordany.
