The commercial director of the ski resort Ax 3 Domaines – Ascou – Monts d’Olmes – Guzet, Jacques Murat Savasem, told all-andorra.com about the advantages of having a winter vacation in the Ariège-Pyrénées region of France:
“Ax 3 Domaines is a ski resort located in Ariege-Pyrenees, near the tiny French town of Ax-les-Thermes (about 60 km from Andorra). The ski resort was created in 1956. Today it is a unique place in the Pyrenees. The resort is located at altitudes from 1400 to 2400 m above sea level. There are 20 lifts (two gondolas, seven chairlifts, eight drag lifts, two ropes and one carpet), 250 snow cannons and 37 routes with a total length of 80 km: 9 green, 11 blue, 10 red and 7 black. In addition, we have a snow park and a “border cross” area.
Our ski resort is a great place for freeride lovers.
There is also a kindergarten (for children from 3 months to 5 years old), two ski schools and two tracks for beginners.
In recent years, we have upgraded our ski stations. We built a new chairlift with a length of 1075 m (lifting time – 8 minutes, number of seats – 134, passenger traffic – 2000 people per hour). The volume of investments is 3,000,000 euros. We also extended a new rope hoist, which links the Saquet zone with the main hoists, to facilitate returns from the station (the project cost was 135,000 euros).
In addition, we installed 12 new snow cannons (investments amounted to 400,000 euros), and we have improved the recreation area for children by investing 600,000 euros in this project. In addition, access to all our ski lifts has been improved – you can now get a shuttle from the car parks to the Ax ski station.
Ski holidays – the long-awaited period in which everybody wants to enjoy themselves as much as possible. For skiers who want to extend the pleasure of riding after dark, Ax 3 Domaines offers an evening program. At the top of the resort, there is a restaurant, which once a week can offer a wonderful late dinner with stunning views and skiing under the stars.
Saquet snowpark is equipped with the most modern modules and is designed for visitors of various levels. Skiing takes place to different types of music depending on the time of day (“ride session” or “chill session”).
Among the highlights of the upcoming season, I would especially like to note the events on New Year’s Eve (Le Réveillon), December 31, 2018. As well as from March 14 to 17, there will be a Snowgay party, the main goal of which is to offer a gay and lesbian-friendly meeting in an original environment in the mountains. From April 6 to April 7 there will be a snow-bike competition.
At the foot of the ski slopes, every day during the school holidays from 4 o’clock, are fun sledding, snowball games and entertaining quizzes.
In addition to skiing, in Ariege you can enjoy the thermal springs and take part in gastronomic festivals related to the Pyrenean cuisine, which uses the freshest products from our region to cook”.
