Nikitsky Gate Theater

The Moscow State Theater “Nikitsky Gate Theater” is a drama theater located in the Tverskoy district of Moscow.

The theater was founded in 1983 by director and playwright Mark Rozovsky. The status of the state theater was officially assigned on October 1, 1991.

On January 25, 2012, the theater at the Nikitsky Gates celebrated a housewarming party. After an agonizing wait of more than 12 years, the new four-story building of the former Replay Cinema has opened its doors to the public. The spacious new hall with comfortable chairs and a pleasant view has 198 seats. The stage is equipped with the latest technologies, and modern sound and lighting equipment is installed. The foyer’s decor in green and brown tones creates an atmosphere of coziness and comfort. The minor details of the interior have been worked out. With all the innovations, the historical appearance of the building, built in the 18th century, has been preserved.
