Monument to Suvorov in Moscow

Monument to Suvorov – a sculpture in honor of the great Russian commander, Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov, on the square of the same name in Moscow.

In 1977, the Council of Ministers of the USSR decided to build a monument to Suvorov in Moscow. On the 250th anniversary of the commander in 1980, a competition was held for the best project, which was won by the sculptor Komov and the architect Nesterov. The grand opening of the monument took place on February 17, 1982, on Commune Square (since 1992 – Suvorovskaya Square).

The monument to Suvorov is located in Moscow on Suvorovskaya Square near the Theater of the Russian Army and the Museum of the Soviet Army, where there was an invalid home for military veterans during the time of Suvorov. In January 2021, the monument was opened after restoration – the monument was cleaned of dirt, and the pedestal was put in order.
