The Ministry of Health of Andorra joins the celebration of the World Antibiotic Awareness Week

The Ministry of Health of Andorra (Pyrenees) joins the celebration of the World Antibiotic Awareness Week, which will be celebrated from 13th November. As the World Health Organization (WHO) notes, “antibiotics are an invaluable way to fight infectious diseases caused by bacteria, but the unreasonable consumption of these drugs provokes an addiction to the body in such a way that the bacteria stop responding to the action of one or more antibiotics.”

Currently, the bacteria resistant to antibiotics is one of the threats to human health and provokes more than 25 000 deaths per year in Europe. Therefore, WHO encourages the use of antibiotics with caution, only on the advice of a doctor.

The campaign, in which the Andorran Ministry of Health is involved, will consist of advertising materials explaining the possible consequences of using antibiotics without prescription.
