On 21st May (10:30 a.m.) Andorra (Pyrenees) hosts the 8th mass run Cursa Popular Illa Carlemany, the collected funds will be used to recycle plastic waste. The event will be organized with the assistance of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Sustainable Development.

During the presentation of the project, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Olga Gelabert recalled that “in the program of the government of Andorra until 2030 the place of sport is much important in terms of social progress, health and education”. “Sport can be an effective tool in promoting values of respect and preservation of the environment,” added Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Sustainable Development Silvia Calvo. She said that “the campaign for the use of reusable bags for food stuff is starting in the principality, which is part of the National Plan for the Recycling of Plastic Waste.

The recording for the mass run will be opened one week before the event at the Illa Carlemany shopping center in Escaldes-Engordany. During the week, various sports events will take place in the Principality for all comers. The registration fee is 2 euros, the purchase of a T-shirt with the participant number is 5 euros. Participants of the race will be asked to run 2 km or 5 km. This year also provides a separate race for the youngest participants. The registration fee for participation of pets is 1 euro. The funds will be transferred to the Animal Protection Association of Andorra.
