Lisle-sur-Tarn is a commune in the Tarn department in southern France (Occitania, foothills of the Massif Central).

Lisle-sur-Tarn runs along the A68 motorway, halfway between Toulouse and Albi, within the Gaillac wine region.

It is also located on the ancient Way of St. James.

Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Tarn River and the Tescou, the Rodes, the Fongisquelle, the Marguestal, the Rabistau and various other small streams. The town has a remarkable natural heritage made up of three natural areas of ecological, fauna and flora interest.

Lisle-sur-Tarn is a rural commune that has 4,775 inhabitants as of 2021. It is in the urban unit of Lisle-sur-Tarn and is part of the Toulouse catchment area. Its inhabitants are called Lislois or Lisloises.

Main attractions

The true heritage of this city lies in its layout of streets, arranged perpendicularly in a regular manner, constituting four districts delimited by four fortified gates. With its 4,425 m2, its central square is one of the largest covered squares in the bastide towns of the South-West. The facades are red brick or half-timbered.
