La Seu d’Urgell (Catalonia, Spain) will receive a grant from the European Commission in the amount of €15,000 to finance the installation of free wi-fi of at least 30Mbps in public places.
The project will be implemented during the first 18 months after receiving this grant.
This grant is a part of the EU’s plans (WiFi4EU initiative) for establishing high-speed connections in the period 2018–2020. The total budget is 120 million euros.
Among the 510 Spanish cities that received a grant, there are 100 Catalan cities: La Seu d’Urgell, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Terrassa, Lleida, Fuliola or Soleràs and others.
