The K1-B motorcycle was equipped with a single-cylinder two-stroke air-cooled engine with deflector purge. Engine cylinder diameter – 48 mm, piston stroke – 54 mm, displacement – 97.7 cm³. Power was 2.3 liters with at 3300 rpm.

The crankcase and cylinder head were cast from an aluminum alloy, the cylinder from cast iron. The gearbox is two-speed with semi-dry double-disc clutch. The motor was fitted with a flywheel magneto that provided spark ignition and power (6V) to the headlight and taillight.

The motorcycle was equipped with bicycle pedals, which were connected by a chain drive to the rear wheel and served to start the engine, brake and as an auxiliary drive when driving uphill. The drive to the rear wheel was realized by a roller chain. The rear axle was equipped with a Torpedo bicycle hub. A hub with brake pads was installed on the front wheel. Tire size – 26 x 2.25 inches. The chain of pedals and the engine were covered with protective shields, the motorcycle was equipped with a folding central stand and a speedometer with a odometer.

The frame of the motorcycle is tubular, closed type with a carriage for bicycle-type pedals. Parallelogram type front fork with two spring shock absorbers and friction vibration dampers, rear wheel without shock absorption. Bicycle-type driver’s saddle was equipped with two coil springs. A trunk and two toolboxes are installed on the rear wheel guard. On later models, a cylindrical box was installed above the engine, under the saddle.

Controls are located on the steering wheel: a manual clutch lever (left), a rotary throttle handle and a front brake lever on the right, a light switch, a decompressor shifter, a pneumatic signal (horn). The shift lever is located on the right side of the fuel tank. The lever was fixed in three positions: first and second gears, neutral. The fuel used was a mixture of engine oil and gasoline in a ratio of 1:25, fuel consumption was about 2.9 liters per 100 km. The maximum speed of the K1-B motorcycle was 50 km/h. Weight (dry) – about 59 kg, fuel tank capacity – 8 liters.

The motorcycle was painted mainly in black, there were options for blue, dark green. The inscription “Kiev” was applied to the fuel tank and the KMZ emblem was installed, also the wheel guards and the fuel tank were decorated with white lines. In early models, a metal emblem was riveted on the rear fender with the inscription: Kyiv Motor Plant.
