IVECO Urbanway

IVECO Urbanway. Paris public bus (Paris)

The Iveco Bus Urbanway is a low-floor bus and articulated bus model produced by Iveco Bus since 2013. Production takes place in the Annonay (France) and Vysoké Mýto (Czech Republic) plants.

History

The Urbanway was designed to replace the Irisbus Citelis and was presented at the UITP Geneva Motor Show in May 2013 and again at Busworld Kortrijk 2013 in Courtrai. Despite the similarities with its predecessor, it is lighter, slightly more spacious and has a new system of front and rear lights. In addition, the Urbanway complies with the European Euro VI emissions standard, which came into force on 1 September 2014. The vehicle has been tested in extreme climate conditions in Finland and Spain and in regular operation in numerous European urban networks.

Technical

The vehicle, marketed in three versions divided by size (two classic versions, 10 and 12 meters, and an articulated version of 18 meters), was made available with three different engines: Iveco Tector 7, with a displacement of 6.7 l and a power of 286 HP (210 kW), Iveco Cursor 8 (only CNG version), with a displacement of 7.8 l and a power of 290 HP (213 kW) / 330 HP (243 kW), and Iveco Cursor 9, displacement of 8.7 l and a power of 310 HP (228 kW) / 360 HP (265 kW) / 400 HP (294 kW). The full hybrid version was equipped with an Iveco Tector 7 engine. The engines are mounted longitudinally (Tector 7) or transversely (Cursor 8 and 9).

From the point of view of pollution, the vehicle was equipped with the HI-eSCR (HIgh Efficiency SCR) exhaust gas post-treatment system, developed by FPT Industrial, to replace the exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR).

It is also equipped with air conditioning, an access platform for disabled motorists and three LED displays (front, rear and right side).

The Urbanway succeeds the Irisbus Citelis and shares its structure with the Heuliez GX 337. Its main competitors are the Mercedes-Benz Citaro, Solaris Urbino, Scania Citywide, Volvo 7900, Mercedes-Benz Conecto, Otokar Kent, BredaMenarinibus Avancity+, NefAZ-5299 and the MAN Lion’s City.
