Grandvalira reports the death of a snowboarder on the black Avet slope

Grandvalira in Andorra (Pyrenees) reported the fatal accident of a British tourist who crashed this afternoon on the Avet slope (Soldeu sector). The man is said to have lost control and crashed into a tree on the right side of the slope. He died as a result of the several serious injuries he received, leading to his heart failing.

The station’s rescue teams quickly moved to the place of accident to help the 59-year-old man. Despite all the doctors’ efforts, the man died within a few minutes.

The Avet slope is one of the most difficult black slopes. It is recommended for users with a very high level of skiing.

At the time of the accident, the man was alone.

The Andorran police have launched an investigation to find out the possible causes of the incident.
