Fried catfish with tomato sauce (step-by-step with photos)

For perfect results, it’s best to use the tail of the catfish. The tomato sauce can also be replaced with fresh tomatoes and onions if desired. To prepare four portions of this dish we need:

– 4 tails
– 200g flour
– 1 onion
– 100g tomato sauce
– salt (preferably sea salt or seasoned salt)

Step 1.

Wash the portions of the catfish. Clean the fish well by scrubbing with salt all over.

Step 2.

Roll the catfish strips in a mixture of flour with a small amount of salt on both sides.

Step 3.

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and add the fish. Fry over a medium heat.

Step 4.

When one side is golden brown, flip the fish over and sprinkle with roughly chopped onions. Fry for another 10-15 minutes.

Step 5.

Pour the tomato sauce over the strips of fish or place the fresh, sliced tomatoes on top of the catfish. You can sprinkle with fresh herbs. Cover the pan and simmer the fish over a low heat for 15 minutes.

Step 6.

To garnish, squeeze a little lemon juice over the catfish. The result will please fish lovers. The dish can be eaten hot, with vegetables or potatoes, as well as chilled.

Bon appetit!
