French SNCF BB 60031-60033 locomotives. These diesel locomotives of the single-cab type with full grip, mainly dedicated to shunting and yarding, in a way foreshadowed the future BB 63000 of the SNCF fleet.

Ordered by the PLM in 1936 after several successful experiments with Diesel traction, these three BB 60030 locomotives built by Forges et Aciéries de la Marine d’Homécourt were delivered to the SNCF in 1938. Their original number was 4DMD 1 to 3.

They were renamed in 1939 according to the numbering plan for SNCF Diesel locomotives 040 DD 1 to 3. In 1962, they underwent some detail simplifications and were renumbered BB 60031 to 33.
