On 11th May the Council of Ministers of Andorra decided to expand the program to stimulate the purchase of electric vehicles by residents of the Principality for additional 300,000 euros. Earlier in 2016, the government of Andorra had planned to spend 1 million euros for grants to encourage the purchase and use in the Principality of electric vehicles.
As was explained by the Minister of transport and telecommunications Jordi Alcobé, the market share of such vehicles on the results of the program will be 4.5%. For optimal results, participation in the program has several conditions: grants for the purchase of electric cars and hybrid cars are limited to one vehicle per applicant. In addition, the program implies that the vehicle must remain with the owner a minimum of one year.
Currently 103 applications for purchase of passenger electric vehicles and 19 bids for the purchase of vans were submitted. The average price for electric car – €30255, the government grants discount is 34.6%. Thus, the final price will be €19797. As for hybrid cars, the average price is €43349, the government grants discount is 21.7%. Thus, the owner of such vehicle will pay only €33961.
