Aérostat Dupuy de Lôme
The Dupuy de Lôme dirigible aerostat is a human-powered airship built and tested under the direction of Henri Dupuy de Lôme starting during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. The Government of National Defense entrusted it on October 29, 1870 in Paris besieged, the creation of an airship to re-establish relations with the territory still under French control. The rigor of the winter and then the Commune prevented the achievement of this objective, which was nevertheless pursued in Vincennes.
