Tipo Cuatro Caminos

The Cuatro Caminos series railcars were the first vehicles to circulate on the Madrid Metro network in 1919 (Spain).

They had a narrow gauge for a track width of 1,445 mm. They where produced as a 3-door railcars.

The body of the cars was self-supporting and completely metallic, the first time that a vehicle of this type was manufactured in Spain.

The metal structure was riveted and was visible as it did not have an interior coating. The opening of the doors was then manual and had to be activated by travelers.

Originally the double leaves were made of wood and the passageway for entry and exit had 120 mm of light. The floor was varnished wood.
