The Council of Ministers of Andorra approved a draft law on the rights of people with disabilities. The bill will be submitted to the parliament of the principality in the near future.
The text of the bill is the result of work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Andorra with the active participation of organizations and representatives of organizations of people with disabilities. The final text version was agreed at a meeting of the National Council on Disability.
The bill prescribes equality of rights for people with disabilities and determines the responsibilities of state institutions on the rights and freedoms of persons with disabilities, in particular, rights of such people for education, work and equality of conditions with other people.
The text of the bill also strengthens the importance of using sign language and Braille.
The bill also specifies the terms of maternity leave, if the child or parents have a disability.
