Catalonia celebrates its National Day on September 11, known in Catalan as La Diada

September 11 is marked by floral tributes, anthems and flags and – in the last decade – massive marches for independence.

This week’s Catalan phrase is “endavant les atxes,” which is used to give encouragement when faced with difficulties.
