Carles Miquel becomes the director of the Office of Energy and Climate Change

The Government of Andorra has approved, this Wednesday, at the proposal of the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Sustainability, Sílvia Calvó, the appointment of Carles Miquel as director of the Office of Energy and Climate Change of Andorra (Pyrenees).

Carles Miquel has occupied, since its creation in 2015, the position of head of the Office of Energy and Climate Change. He is a senior engineer in Water and Environment and a Technical Engineer in Public Works.

Since 1998, he has been working on the implementation of the sanitation plan and on the protection and monitoring of water resources. In 2010, climate change complements its activity and he participates in the Pyrenees Climate Change Observatory. At the international level, the office is responsible for national communications to the international community, and is the focal point of Andorra in the UNFCCC and the GIEC.

The appointment of Carles Miquel as director is part of the recent approval, unanimously, to the General Council of the Law on the promotion of energy transition and climate change. The existing legal regulation applies to the Office of Energy and Climate Change and provides for the appointment of a director.

In addition, this step is part of the efforts made by the Government for a change in the energy model and the fight against climate change.
