Capdenac, sometimes unofficially called Capdenac-le-Haut, is a commune in the east of the Lot department, in the Occitania region, France (Massif Central).

It is part of the Figeac conurbation and the Figeac catchment area. Its inhabitants are called Capdenacois or Capdenacoises.

Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the river Lot, the ruisseau de Donazac and various other small streams.

The commune boasts a remarkable natural heritage, with two natural zones of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest.

It is also located on the Causse de Gramat, the largest and wildest of the four Causses du Quercy.

For historical reasons, the commune is closely linked to the commune of Capdenac-Gare, which lies below in the Aveyron department.

The village is a member of the association – The Most Beautiful Villages of France.
