In the Assembly Hall of San Julia de Loria, Andorra (Pyrenees), the official opening ceremony of the 2019-2020 school year was held, chaired by the Head of Government of Andorra Xavier Espot Zamora, together with the Rector of the University of Andorra (UDA) Miquel Nicolau and the Mayor of Sant Julià de Lòria, Joseph Vila. The introductory lesson “The intangible value of knowledge” was conducted by the former president of the European University Association (USA) Rolf Tarrach, doctor of theoretical physics.

Since the beginning of the University of Andorra, since 1988, more than 16,500 applicants have been trained and nearly 5,500 diplomas of various types have been issued, including trainings and continuing education courses, of which 1,205 are state-owned.

In the last academic year of 2018-2019, 1857 students studied at the University of Andorra (519 formal and 1338 – continuing education). At the same time, a new record for students, including foreign students, was noted.

On the other hand, with regard to the 2019-2020 school year, which began in September this year, the number of students studying in official courses increased by 4.2% compared to the previous year, which is very different from the previous year. The increase in the number of freshmen was 4%, so a new record was achieved again.

The bachelor’s degree in business administration (37 new students) and the bachelor’s degree in computer engineering (31 students) remain the most sought after.

Among the novelties of this course is the introduction of a new undergraduate program in the humanities.

Last year, a course was developed in conjunction with the Andorran Bar Association, which trains future lawyers in the country.

This academic year, with the collaboration with Andorra Telecom, Espacio de Creación Emprendedora, a course on the implementation of business projects of school graduates and students, will be launched.
