Minister of tourism and trade of Andorra Francesc Camp presented a strategic plan for the development of retail trade for further promotion of the tourism sector of the principality. The plan concerns the development of retail trade and its trends for the next 10 years, reports the Government of Andorra.
According to Francesc Camp, retail trade in Andorra needs both short-term and long-term strategic changes to be made for the promotion of tourism sector in general. He added that it was necessary to diversify and improve the quality of products as well as to attract new brands. It is, above all, concerns the business of the sports shops and large supermarkets in Andorra.
The growth in the trade sector, in his opinion, must strengthen the tourism industry, increasing the number of visitors and their duration of stay in Andorra.
As for priority measures he said about the improvement of the urban landscape of Andorra, as well as to optimize the usability of shopping process, including e-commerce. According to the Minister, it is important to optimally combine commercial offer packages with the cultural and recreational activities, creating more events to attract the attention of visitors.
Shopping tourism and, in general, the trade sector is a key element in the Andorran economy. It forms 14.2% of the GDP of the principality.
