The delegation of Andorra (Pyrenees), led by Xavier Cañada, the director of the government’s social affairs department, arrived in New York at UN headquarters to attend the 10th conference on the rights of people with disabilities. The conference is held from 13 to 15 June.

In his speech, Xavier Cañada stressed that Andorra regularly participated in the meetings of the National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (CONADIS). Earlier on 30th March, 2017 Andorra approved the adoption of amendments to the Andorran law on the rights of disabled people.

Within the framework of the conference, Andorra, along with Monaco and San Marino with the participation of UNICEF and UNESCO-ICSSPE, organized an additional event on the integration of people with disabilities through sports. The event was held with the participation of the famous Andorran athlete Albert Llovera, who proved with his personal experience that people with disabilities can succeed in sport.
