Andorra (Pyrenees) participated in an international conference on the use of renewable energy, held in Perpignan (Occitania, France).
The Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Sustainable Development Silvia Calvó, speaking at the conference, said that “Andorra remains volatile from neighboring countries and expressed the need to increase the volume of own electricity production, while respecting international commitments to reduce emissions and combat climate change”. In this regard, she noted the particular importance of using renewable energy sources.
Within the framework of the conference, the delegation of Andorra held a meeting with the Director General of the Agence de l’Environnement et de la maîtrise de l’energie, Fabrice Boissier and the Regional Director of Occitània, Frédéric Guillot. The parties discussed the experience of France in the area of energy efficiency.
In addition, in a meeting with the Director of Qualit’EnR (Institute for Advanced Training in the Use of Renewable Energy Sources), Teddy Puaud, the parties discussed the prospects of training of specialists to improve the quality of services.
The delegation of Andorra also included: the Director of the Department of the Government for the Protection of the Environment, Marc Rossell, FEDA Director – General Albert Moles and the Director of the Government Department for Climate Change Carles Miquel.
The conference will end on 15th June and will be devoted to the issues of rational energy consumption and energy efficiency.
Following this conference, next week in Andorra, the meeting of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Perpignan and Andorra will be held to establish new business contacts.
