The Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Sustainable Development of Andorra (Pyrenees) has joined a program for the textile waste recycling, which is supported by the regional council of Occitania, France and the agency for the protection of the environment and energy control of the Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées regions.
The main objective of this project is to collect waste from the textile industry, to select materials suitable for reuse, and to create a textile recycling plant by grinding waste to produce insulating material. The initiative provides for the possibility of creating jobs for people in social isolation.
The city council of Bourg-Madame, the legal association Emmaüs France, charitable organization Caritas d’Andorra, the administration of La Seu d’Urgell and Puigcerdà (Spain, Catalonia) also participate in the project.
