Andorra approved the tender for the second phase of the works for the conservation, rehabilitation and interpretation of the Radio Andorra building

On Wednesday, the Government of Andorra approved the tender for the second phase of the works for the conservation, rehabilitation and interpretation of the Radio Andorra building in Encamp, Andorra (Pyrenees), to accommodate the administrative offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through a national competition with an open procedure and ordinary recruitment method.

The works that enters into the competition are the actions planned in the exterior and in the -1, 2 floors and part of the ground floor, being the areas not affected by asbestos. The interventions of floor 1 and part of floor 0 as a museum space will be tendered once the asbestos of the emitters and other devices have been removed.

In this way, the construction work of an external communications nucleus (ladder and elevator) that connected the old CG 2 has been bidded on today with the levelling of the ground floor of the existing building, the renovation of the semi-basement floor, for about twenty jobs and about 10 on the ground floor in addition to the reception space. It is planned to build a meeting room on the first floor and ministerial offices and multipurpose spaces on the 2nd floor and on the terrace. The project also contemplates the adequacy of the terrace and the skylights of the second floor as well as the conditioning of the exterior spaces.

The Ministry responsible for Culture will conclude the work plan for the removal of the asbestos detected in the stations and other facilities and equipment of the building during the next weeks and plans to award these interventions at the beginning of 2019.

The execution period contemplated for the project is 12 months and it is planned to finish the work next December.
