During the ski season of 2003/2004 Grandvalira Pas de la Casa – Grau Roig and Soldeu – El Tarter resorts signed a commercial agreement on launching a unified ski zone GrandvaliraThus, besides the fact that Andorra has got the largest skiing area in the Pyrenees, there is also one of the principal ski resorts of Southern Europe on its territory.

The ski trails of Grandvalira are divided into 6 sectors: Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp, that encompass the area of 1,926 hectares with 112 slopes and with the capacity of 100.700 skiers per hour.

Since 2020, Grandvalira also includes Ordino-Arcalis sector (it was a part of Vallnord).

Ski schools

In Grandvalira there are all necessary conditions for teaching of different skill levels and ages. The training takes place on the basis of seven ski schools. 450 professional instructors are at your disposal. The programs for beginners and intermediate level include alpine skiing, snowboarding and free ride. Advanced skiers and snowboarders can hone skating technique and skills, experienced athletes have a chance to test new equipment and take exclusive lessons from the best coaches of Grandvalira.

In Grandvalira your level of riding does not matter. On the basis of seven ski schools one can improve the skills in the familiar sport or to discover a new type of skating.

Group classes can be attended in six different languages.

Grandvalira ski school offers an exclusive type of training, borrowed from the leading American ski resorts. With professional instructors of high qualification you will find out about the most interesting and challenging slopes in the region. A special program of individual lessons ill be developed on the basis of your skills and preferences.

Staying overnight at the ice home.

If you are looking for something special, unconventional, romantic, exotic or even all these in one, Grandvalira has got something to offer you. Stay an overnight at the Igloo – Hotel, which is entirely built out of snow, at the height of 2,350 meters. The Igloo-Hotel Grandvalira comprises five igloos that are ready to welcome up to 6 persons. The hotel also has a bar-restaurant,WCs, jacuzzi. Standard Igloo (adult): from 109 €; Standard Igloo (child): 50 €; Romantic Igloo: from 182 €; Romantic Igloo Suite: from 338 €.

The price includes: a transfer from Grau Roig by snowcat, welcome drink, accommodation in accordance to the selected type of igloo, night walk in snowshoes with a guide (depending on the weather conditions), dinner at the restaurant (cheese fondue), tea and water, jacuzzi, sleeping bags and everything you need for a comfortable sleep in an igloo, early morning descent, before the opening of slopes and lifts, breakfast at Tres Estanys, GrauRoig.

The temperature in the igloos is about 0 ° C, and it is recommendable to include in your backpack the following: warm clothes, suitable for rest in the mountains, warm and comfortable footwear, gloves, sunglasses, spare socks and underwear, towel, swimwear, slippers for the jacuzzi, 2 woolen hats (the second one – for jacuzzi), flashlight, toothbrush, cash.

The cards are also accepted.

For the comfortable sleep of the igloo-hotel guests, sleeping bags and special disposable cotton bed sheets are provided. The most ideal luggage is a backpack or sports bag; suitcases are not accepted.
