Professional guide, alpinist, author and polar researcher, technical consultant of major brands, specializing in the production and sale of professional equipment, an instructor in cross country skiing.

Carles is a person of  a wide range of interests. A researcher by nature, he devoted his life to the study of the Pyrenees, the Atlas mountains (Morocco), the Andes, as well as polar research in the Arctic and Antarctic. Leads an active lifestyle, traveling the world, conquering mountain peaks and cold desert. His first ascent Carles carried out when he was 7.

Since 1988 he organized and participated in 70 expeditions across the world. He visited all the continents except Oceania. In 2002 he became the first Catalan citizen who made Great polar journey and crossed Greenland. Carles has completed more than 10500 climbing in the mountains. Most of his time Carles devoted to the study of the Pyrenees – it was there where he made more than 300 first ascents.

He is the author of 40 books, collaborates with various specialized magazines. Regularly appears at specialized conferences. Fluent in Catalan language, Spanish (a native speaker) and Italian. Speaks French, English. Understands Aran and Galician languages.

Carles Gel offers the services of the organizer of excursions in the Pyrenees and Atlas mountains, travels around the world as a guide.
